Women and girls are encouraged to have ideas, share their voices, and have the confidence to participate in the development of their community.

The team understands first hand the importance of socio-emotional empowerment of themselves, their students, families, and the professionals they train and are in aliiance with, since that is the basis of success the academic, professional, and personal lives.

Women and girls are provided with the tools that allow them to strengthen their skills and self-confidence to take on leadership roles.

This is perhaps the most important gift of the Puerta Abierta to the community of Santiago Atitlán: female power!
