Sustainable Livelihoods

The Sustainable Livelihoods Fund (SLF) helps Natik's partner organizations in Guatemala strengthen economic independence through local initiatives, training, and long-term partnerships.

Families in these regions face few income opportunities. The SLF supports innovative, community-led projects that create jobs, develop products, and open new markets—strengthening organizations and benefiting entire communities.

By moving from informal to professional practices, partners are building confidence, teamwork, and sustainability. Results include new jobs, stronger community identity, and better income opportunities.

As of August 2025, the Fund has:

     * Granted $5,000 each to two major community initiatives.

     * Delivered 20 training workshops on business, marketing, food safety, and tourism.

     * Hired a local Project Coordinator for mentoring and oversight.

     * Built 4 institutional partnerships for additional support.

     * Held 19 follow-up meetings for ongoing guidance.

Partner Highlights

*Pueblo a Pueblo – Bee Strong Apiculture Project: Six beekeepers launched a honey shop, secured Q7,000 in extra funding, and now market their products through fairs, restaurants, and radio ads.

*ANADESA – Community Tourism Services: Improved facilities, hired a promoter, and launched cooking classes and cultural workshops. Outreach to travel agencies led to 80% expressing interest in collaboration.

Hasta la próxima,

Anita Smart, Executive Director
