Hand-Beaded Makeup, Pencil Case, Pouch, or Wallet

Made by members of ANADESA—Asociación Nuevo Amanecer Santiago Atitlán (Association of the New Dawn Santiago Atitlán). Made with glass beads, satin lining, and a zipper closure. This pouch mimics the designs of the traditional huipil (blouse) from Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala. Mayan women wear the huipil with pride as a marker of communal identity and cultural heritage.
